Wilcox silver plate Co Quadruple plate Victorian pickle castor featuring a mechanical opening lid manufactured in Meriden Connecticut USA. The base stamp shows the item was patented on the 16th October 1877.
The carry handle is attached to a hooked hinge which when tilted to the side opens the lid automatically. The figural silver frame is heavily decorated and in very good original condition considering its over 130 years old.
The glass pickle jar is nicely faceted and has a hand etched floral design, it has no chips cracks or repairs.
A very rare nice complete example which are difficult to find these days
