Matcham Skipper Australian artist, sculpture jeweller born in Melbourne 1921-2011 well known for his brutalist sculptures and furniture made from junk and the scrap castings from the pressings of Sidchrome spanners and tools. Many local Melbourne homes had his sculptured mandelas on the front or their houses. He worked from Montsalvat arts centre and many items were marketed as Pollyben products
The clock is a variation on these mandelas and is made from discarded castings from different sized spanners, sculpured in a starburst pattern. The Metamec English made Quartz clock with German made movement is in good working order.
