African American chalkware bobber nodder head
$ 95.00
Chalkware nodder figure of an African American negro butler, dressed in a Jacket and bowtie, standing on a round pinewood base. These nodders usually have an accentuated or oversized head.
Chalkware, made from plaster of paris, was used to create inexpensive decorative objects. This one was probably given away as a prize at a carnival, made around the 1930’s. Good condition for it’s age, with some crazing to the paintwork. Difficult now to find in original condition, as most of these figures rarely survive.
